it must be wednesday…

     For the first time in three months, I have zero workload today. I even left work on time at 4PM, no overtime like the last three months (not that I get paid for overtime anyways).  Then there’s that filet mignon i had for lunch and a hearty turkey sub for dinner.  And the weather couldn’t be more perfect, nice and sunny with a crisp, cool breeze. Winter is just around the corner but fall is great. My blood sugar is 127 but who cares, it’s a nice wednesday…

it must be monday…

     So last week a friend of mine gave me good advice to document any medical problems i’ve had before i retire to make sure i wouldn’t miss any qualifying disabilities on my retirement pay. Then i remembered having serious back and chest pains a couple of weeks ago, so i went to sick call this morning to let them know about it. They gave me an EKG (which turned out ok) and an X-ray, then they told me to wait a few minutes for the results. While waiting i asked if they could check the results on my A1C blood sugar test a month ago (normally they’ll call you back after the test if the results are abnormal). Well, the corpsman came back and said that my blood levels were elevated (even though no one notified me), and that they also found Atherosclerosis in my aorta.  So now they gave me another appointment with my primary doctor on wednesday for a full check-up and consult, which will include pre-diabetic counseling, dietician/cholesterol counseling, and probably some meds.  The good news is my back problem was just muscle spasm.  So later back at work, i received my usual email from dictionary.com on the Spanish Word of the Day and you’ll never guess what the spanish word for today’s date (9/28/09) was…

     If i can make it through the rest of the day without any more surprises i could probably sleep better tonight…

I know i haven’t blogged for a while, there’s just not much stuff worth blogging… until last weekend. Well for starters my brother got married, and it was good to see him happy once again. So i gained a sister-in-law on that day. But little did I know that I would also gain four more sisters and four more brothers… from my natural father’s families. It’s a long story, much of which I don’t know and am just learning now. But the details are not important to me, at least not anymore. What I do know now is that I have found new hope, love, and faith in a lifetime of questions and doubt. Here’s a picture from the wedding, without two of my four brothers. God is good…
