So last week a friend of mine gave me good advice to document any medical problems i’ve had before i retire to make sure i wouldn’t miss any qualifying disabilities on my retirement pay. Then i remembered having serious back and chest pains a couple of weeks ago, so i went to sick call this morning to let them know about it. They gave me an EKG (which turned out ok) and an X-ray, then they told me to wait a few minutes for the results. While waiting i asked if they could check the results on my A1C blood sugar test a month ago (normally they’ll call you back after the test if the results are abnormal). Well, the corpsman came back and said that my blood levels were elevated (even though no one notified me), and that they also found Atherosclerosis in my aorta. So now they gave me another appointment with my primary doctor on wednesday for a full check-up and consult, which will include pre-diabetic counseling, dietician/cholesterol counseling, and probably some meds. The good news is my back problem was just muscle spasm. So later back at work, i received my usual email from dictionary.com on the Spanish Word of the Day and you’ll never guess what the spanish word for today’s date (9/28/09) was…
If i can make it through the rest of the day without any more surprises i could probably sleep better tonight…
uhoh will they have to do anything for you heart? diabetes can causes hardening of the arteries….
probably put me on a diet or take those pills. maybe it’s time to add more insurance huh? good thing i already picked my funeral song 🙂
I don’t know If I said it already but …Excellent site, keep up the good work. I read a lot of blogs on a daily basis and for the most part, people lack substance but, I just wanted to make a quick comment to say I’m glad I found your blog. Thanks, 🙂
A definite great read..Jim Bean
